Google Announces Rich Results Test Tool Officially Out of Beta Stage

In a recent post on their webmasters’ blog, Google announced that the Rich Results Test tool now fully supports all Google Search rich result features.

The Rich Results Test used to only support four types of structured data – recipes, jobs, movies, and courses, but now it can test for all types of markup supported by Google search results.

With this latest development, Google also announced that it is preparing to deprecate the Structured Data Testing Tool. Here’s the detail of their announcement:

“In addition, we are preparing to deprecate the Structured Data Testing Tool.  it will still be available for the time being, but going forward we strongly recommend you use the Rich Results Test to test and validate your structured data.”

What are Rich Results?

These are simply Google search results that occupy more SERP real estate and contain more detail. Here’s a detailed explanation of what rich results are:

“Rich results are experiences on Google Search that go beyond the standard blue link. They’re powered by structured data and can include carousels, images, or other non-textual elements.”

This tool, developed by Google in the last two years, helps website owners test structured data and preview their websites’ rich snippets. According to Google, this final version can now serve website owners better because of the following reasons:

     ·It handles dynamically loaded structured data markup more effectively

     ·It
