“Torchlight 3,” is set to leave its Early Access stage next month and will suit up for a full launch on the PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Formerly known as “Torchlight Frontiers,” the action-RPG game is the third installment in the “Torchlight” franchise developed by American video game studio Echtra Games and published by Perfect World Entertainment.
The Redwood City, California-based online publisher also worked with Runic Games and helped release the first two “Torchlight” games in 2009 and 2012, respectively.
The game Early Access back in June, but it only dipped its toes on the initial phase for a short period of time. According to PC Gamer, its journey went on a “slightly meandering route” with Runic Games shutting down in 2017 and Echtra Games having a change of heart and rebranded “Frontiers” to what is now “Torchlight 3.”
The outlet published a separate article earlier this year where it tackled the title’s development from the title change to a somewhat major overhaul that made it a “true sequel” to the first two games.
“Over the past year, we have gathered massive amounts of feedback from our Alpha testers. After reviewing this feedback, discussing with our internal teams and receiving guidance from our publisher, we determined that this was the best course for the game,” read a post on the game’s official website.
